Our 8th Annual Earth Day Art Contest Awards Show and Auction took place Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Skyline Art Services.
Event proceeds benefit the winning artists’ school art programs and Air Alliance Houston, a non-profit whose mission is to reduce air pollution in the Houston region to protect public health and environmental integrity through research, education, and advocacy. The Earth Day Art Contest is a component of Earth Day Houston, the festival developed and organized by Air Alliance Houston.
Our Earth Day Art Contest continues to grow, having had participation from 42 different schools in the Houston area in 2015. Including the pre-sale, we raised a total of $5,945. 50 percent of that will be donated to local school art programs.
Students received a framed copy of their artwork, certificate and cash prize.
After the auction, the twenty-seven winning pieces will go on a tour of Houston through early 2016. The artwork will visit the City Hall Tunnels downtown, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the magnificent Houstonian Hotel Fitness Center Lobby, and finally, Hobby Airport.
The Earth Day Art Contest is developed by Air Alliance Houston in conjunction with their annual Earth Day Houston festival and is presented by HEB. The art contest is made possible through generous support by Skyline Art Services, The Hershey Foundation, Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Garcia Hamilton & Associates, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Messina Hof, Texas Art Supply, The Finger Companies, Glassell School of Art, and The Felvis Foundation. Our cash prizes were generously donated by Air Alliance Houston, Texas Art Supply and Glassell Junior School.
